Open Learning experience at Tribodar: Bulding a green roof

14/15 may

Tribal party saturday 14 May

We will make the experience of building a green Roof.

Green roofs are roofs that have plants growing on them. They consist of a carrying structure, a water proof layer, a drainage layer, a filtering layer and a layer of growing medium, such as earth.

They are very good because they have excellent thermal properties. They keep the room below fresh in the summer and warm in winter.

Solar shower Experiment

9/10 April 2011

Tribal Party on April 9th in the evening

Description

We will build a system based on black water tubes and a hot water collector from an old electric boiler. At the same time as putting together the solar shower, we will prepare the bathroom with shower and bath and put in the water tubes. We will also do some fridge building, as we need to make a front wall for the bathroom.
If you want to learn about the principles of solar showers, or you already know something about them and want to help us design a well

Olive Pruning Workshop

on Mon, 02/28/2011 - 11:18

At our olive pruning workshop, we had the guidance of Sr. Manuel, a retired professional pruner. At first he was a bit hard to follow as he immediately jumped up a tree and started working, but as people gathered around him, and the end result for the first tree started to appear,  things got clearer.

The trees we were pruning where trees I had been pruning partially last year and others that had been neglected for over a decade. Last year I had chosen to leave some major secondary branches on all primary branches, to avoid reducing the crown so much, that the roots would suffer.
